WEST VIRGINIA HEALTH CENTER REPEATS AS A WINNER in national rankings
– WESTVA HOSPITALITY CENTER, a nonprofit healthcare organization serving Virginia’s southwestern corner, was named a top-performing community in the nation for the fourth consecutive year by U.S. News & Media and was voted to the National Hospitals Week rankings.
The health center in the city of West Virginia, with an enrollment of 5,300 patients, beat out the four other top-ranked community hospitals in the country in the new annual list.
“We’re thrilled to have achieved this ranking,” said West Virginia Hospitality Center CEO Mary Ann Meehan.
“The healthcare landscape in the region is changing rapidly and the future is bright for the healthcare community in West Virginia.”
The top-rated community hospital in the U.K., St. Mary’s Hospital in central London, has recently announced plans to merge with a rival, which is expected to increase the number of community hospitals.
The hospital in St. George, Virginia, was also named a Best Hospitals in America, the first hospital in U.k. history to be named that honor.
West Virginia Health Center also earned the title of Best Health Care Provider in the United States in 2015, and has been ranked among the top-10 U.N. health agencies in a series of indicators since then.
The ranking was based on a survey of 1,000 physicians and nurses, health care professionals and others who work in and around the state.
The survey was conducted by the Public Health Research Institute (PHRI) and was conducted before and after the release of the annual rankings.
In a statement, PHRI CEO David Hogg said: “We are thrilled to see that West Virginia hospitals have been named the top community hospitals of the nation.
It is also important to note that West Virginians are among the highest-paid in the world, earning a median income of $50,000 per year.”
The national ranking of health care providers, conducted by Medscape Medical Research, is based on the quality of healthcare delivered by U and D and by the patient experience.
The annual rankings measure the health care delivery system and outcomes of care.
The new rankings are the first since the American Health Care Quality Index was established in 2006 and the American Community Survey.
The rankings are released each year by the U and DC-based Public Health Foundation.
