Valley wellness center set to open in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (AP) A Los Angeles-area wellness center will open its doors in October, a development that could make the area’s medical marijuana industry the nation’s biggest.
The Valley Wellness Center is expected to open by the end of 2019 in a building at 2121 South El Monte Avenue, in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Glendale.
The site was originally purchased by the City of Glendora in 2016, and a second site was purchased in the Valley by another company, Greenpoint Health Solutions, in late 2017.
Both sites are expected to be able to provide about 20 medical marijuana patients with medical marijuana and will allow for an additional 40 patients to visit each month.
The medical marijuana facility will offer classes in everything from the basics of medical marijuana to its therapeutic properties.
Patients will also have access to a dispensary.
Greenpoint said it’s not planning to compete with any other dispensary in Los Angles, including in the area, nor in the state of California.
The City of Los Angeles, which owns and operates several medical marijuana dispensaries, is expected approve the final zoning for the Valley Well, and the new medical marijuana center will be subject to the city’s permitting process.
GreenPoint said the new facility will provide medical marijuana customers with a convenient location, with an easy access to medical marijuana products, and that the medical marijuana program will be overseen by a trusted, experienced and experienced team of experts.
