Health experts have been sounding the alarm about the effects of depression for years.
In 2015, a team of researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found that antidepressants, antipsychotics and anti-anxiety drugs had an effect on depression that was even worse than previous studies had suggested.
While depression rates have improved in recent years, the prevalence has continued to rise, and researchers are struggling to explain why.
“The Anxiety Treatment Center is a great example of how we’re trying to address depression in a way that is not just a bunch of medication, but also really supportive of our clients,” said Dr. Michelle Wessel, the clinical director of the Wellness Center, in a 2016 interview with The Huffington Post.
